alot of people dont. and it is possible that in doing so , or lack of doing so, has negative consequences that affect the lives of many.
this question alone is a great example of seeking knowledge. and the natural urge to do so.

If their reasoning for the layoffs is because business is slowing down... but they fired 21 workers and now have open applications for those positions on their website...doesnt this display their motive of not wanting to negotiate fair working terms with the union etc...should there be some rules against hiring new people to replace those positions while this is going on?

In the documentary Coded Bias, the police in England were utilizing new AI facial recognition technology to find criminals on the streets and yes they were almost all black. The documentary states that it is because the models were trained on mostly white people so it couldn't differentiate black peoples features as well. Or something to that affect.

killing the apt update shouldn't break anything since its not installing any packages it's just updating your repos. i would have just killed the pid 1635...also not sure if it would break something but i doubt it...did you dmesg to see what else info you might be able to find out?

Capitalist dictators gonna dictate
I was just wondering about the application of Marx theory of economics in modern day. Considering globalization of production, labor, trade, commodities, and late stage capitalism. Found this read quite interesting. Although written in 2002 I believe it is a good brief look through that lens. The author paper is written by University of Utah professor Hans G. Ehrbar. Found from his university webpage: https://content.csbs.utah.edu/~ehrbar/
Although i didnt look at data on "leftist" anti terror groups etc. There seems to be alot of far right radical groups worldwide that are organizing and deploying very quickly, efficiently and in large groups...Why does it seem like they are growing and organizing so efficiently? Is it because theyre generally protected by militant police states and act with impunity to some degree? Are they better at the internet? Is it because they are united in hatred, and leftish groups are coming from many different communities of thought? What is making them (the right radicals) so effective in organizing and building propaganda campaigns etc...?
