Don't forget how he asserts that whales are actually fish and he doesn't care what scientists say because he spoke to whalemen

Most of the book is descriptions of whales, whaling boats, whale skeletons etc. Some of it can be interesting from a historical perspective. I'm sure it was more interesting when people didn't have access to pictures, but it wasn't what I was expecting, that's for sure.

I hope you like in depth descriptions of whales

A baby and a vacation aren't comparable.
Do I "care" about every little detail of their vacation? No, but I'm glad they are happy and had a good time.
People like to talk about their experiences, it's not really a game.

My problem with "its just cosmetic" is that it turns the entire main screen into ad space, along with loading screens and wherever else they can jam it in. I don't play game to be advertised to.
Of course I can choose not to buy in, but if it didn't have a psychological effect they wouldn't be doing it.

A belief is a headline that seems to be accurate. Knowledge is when I actually read the article and checked other sources.

Finished Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglas, which was interesting but horrific. Was a bit disappointed that he didn't detail his escape from bondage but it makes sense that he wouldn't want to give details publically at the time of writing, since it could have been used against future runaways.
Also finished The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch which I enjoyed. I've only read that and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? from Philip K Dick, so I will probably check out more of his work soon.

I liked the premise/vibe of Neuromancer a lot more than the actual narrative. Some of the dialogue was just painful.

Finished The Rise of Endymion, finally. It seemed like it would be a good 400-500 page book but instead was a 800+ page slog. I really enjoyed the first two books in the Hyperion cantos but the last two were rough.
Currently finishing rereading Levithan Wakes and just started Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas, which is obviously incredibly depressing.
I really enjoy this site, it has helped me learn a lot. There's a lot of useful tools, I especially like the chord analyzer.
