What game of the 2020s do you think that will top the "best games of the decade" lists in 2030?

I hope Brok The Investigator becomes more recognized to the point it can make one of those silly lists.

The reason my memory seems to be fuzzy at times, even for some things that happened recently, comes down to the fact that I was put under for surgery back in 2011 and was under for longer than they expected due to finding something they didn't expect.

From someone who went from graduating late 2010s clicking on a download link on yt in 2018 to where I am now, can't say for everyone, but I know I used to be somewhat similar to the first one (minus any mentions on social media). Now I do either torrents or if I DDL, make sure to go to sites on the megathread to lessen the chances of accidentally getting a bad file/torrent.

  • It's Saturday what have you watched this week?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 2d ago 100%

Finished watching Daria and was disappointed. Not in the show or the episode, just that it's over.

I also got back into watching Static Shock. Have the first few episodes on DVD and have been watching the rest of my hard drive. Finished season 1 in a couple days and am maybe a few episodes into season 2. It has turned into my new favorite superhero cartoon.

Besides that, I haven't been watching much because I'm waiting for season 4 of Wakfu to come out with their English dub so I can probably end up binging both the English and French dub (subs for French).

  • Do you refrain from participating to a community if it's hosted on Lemmy.ml ?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 2d ago 75%

Depends on the community and what has been posted. If it's something simple like AskLemmy and people aren't being super weird or preachy about communism or whatever, I don't find harm. I personally don't think I've had any bad experiences with them outside of the time I said I didn't trust a certain news outlet, which I cannot remember the name of.

As of now, despite not playing it much, Brok the Investigator. The game, according to the trailer, takes place in a polluted world where animals replace humans. Tiny spoiler you learn in chapter 1, but the rich, drummers, live under a dome and have tons of resources and bots to aid them and the poor, slummers, live in squalor outside the dome.

You play as Brok, an alligator (crocodile?) who lives in an apartment in the slums with his cat son Graff. The game has some pretty good accessibility features, from what I've heard (haven't used the vast majority of them since I don't need them). It has some easy enough puzzles that are found in different chapters. Has some basic combat in the game that can be skipped by choosing the easiest difficulty, if I remember correctly.

The story spans 6 endings affected by how you play and the choices you make. Apparently there is a true ending after getting all the endings, but the first ending I got is what I personally consider the "true" ending. All characters that speak are fully voiced acted in English. The game has translations for all text in a ton of different languages. There is a small array of different characters with unique personalities. It even has a co-op mode in case you really feel like playing with a friend for some reason, like struggling in fights.

Over the summer I ordered a thing from Cowcat Games, the people behind the game, that comes with the game on disk and USB, a poster of the kinda hub world map thing, a couple post cards, and an art book. Also got a soundtrack CD and a plushie of both of the main characters. Definitely a game I have fallen in love with, in case you couldn't tell. I'm waiting for the financial aid office at the community college I go to to get me processed so I can at some point get a frame for the poster so I can display it somewhere in my room.

I don't know when it'll be done yet, but they're working on a DLC for the game that is focused on the combat system. I'm definitely picking it up when it drops (or whenever I notice). They also just recently got more than enough money on Kickstarter to fund a comic, set before the events of the game. I funded it just so I could get a physical copy sent to me, while also getting a digital copy. I got some generic desktop/laptop backgrounds as well, one of which I'm currently using on my laptop. Needless to say, I'd consider that a well spent~$14USD. Comic apparently gonna be finished by December 2025 and I cannot wait! Definitely gonna do something I've never done before and get a comis book sleeve for the physical copy.

  • Do you prefer ads or paywalls?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 2d ago 100%

Depends on the site. Ads don't bother me because ad block. I support paywalls in the case of sign up for some services, like InsaneJournal. Though, I otherwise have no preference either way since I usually don't go places with paywalls and when I do, I usually find a way to bypass them.

  • Why do shows on streaming platforms waste time with "previously on" recaps?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 3d ago 100%

I presume they do it for the people who don't binge watch or who end up dropping a show for a while, only to come back and not remember what happened last episode.

I personally enjoy them considering there are times I watch shows with breaks of weeks in-between episodes and need it. Saves time.

  • Which do you prefer, TV series adaptations or movie adaptations?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 3d ago 100%

Depending on what it is, TV series. Specifically animated. The exception to the rule would be anime currently running. I was severely disappointed by the Boruto movie being a collection of episodes from the anime, once I figured it out.

  • This is a thought experiment "Ball on a Table" for detecting whether someone has Aphantasia. What do you see when you perform this experiment?
  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 4d ago 100%

    Color: red

    Gender of pusher: undetermined

Looks of pusher: detached skinny white arm/hand

Size: roughly palm sized (full grown adult)

Table: wood, circular. Changed to black void with half pipe like pinball track upon being rolled.

After a quick visualization, that's what I got. Seeing the questions didn't change my answers

Edit: ball moved along the track for a moment before I stopped thinking about it, mostly since that train of thought made my brain switch to Sonic Spinball.

  • AceFuzzLord AceFuzzLord 4d ago 100%

I imagine the solution, for his child at least, would be something like moving to a different platform and if the deadbeat follows, block him. Also, why would he need to change the block system to see her posts? As far as I'm aware, unless posts are made private, anyone can go to your account by creating another account if you've blocked them.

Mostly asking because I've never used these before due to never needing to. That, and I have a few old disc based PC games that I'd love to be able to straight up boot without the game disc. These are games I could just pirate, but I figure I already own them in disc, so I'd rather see if there are any reputable places with no-disc patches. The places I've looked in the megathread don't have what I'm looking for. Closest they have is either a link to the game on another platform in the case of My Abandonware due to it being sold, or a link to just straight up pirate the full thing in the case of Magipack Games. I've also done some digging on the Internet Archive but have yet to yield results (probably because I suck at finding things there). Still gonna keep looking there, but any helpful info would be much appreciated. I don't think I can share the game names, even in DM, due to the rules here, so site mainpages are my best shot.

I've never ripped CDs or DVDs before for any reason and am curious how this works since I have some stuff I wanna see about backing up but am nervous about ruining the disc. I've tried looking this up, but every time I do, I obviously am searching for the wrong thing because I have never found the info I'm looking for.

Linux noob. Just got a pair of Skull Candy Push Active XT bluetooth earbuds. They pair just fine with my setup but no sound comes through them. I found many different posts on various forums and nothing helped. Using the inxi command I pulled some info I think might help, if it's needed. (I don't know if any of this is needed to help fix this issue. I've only been using MX for a little over a week and have never really done a lot of under the hood Linux maintenance before, but am more than willing to learn to fix this issue). If there is sny other information needed, I'm willing to edit this with any of that information, if I can find it. >Bluetooth: Device-1: Intel type: USB driver: btusb v: 0.8 bus-ID: 3-10:5 chip-ID: 8087:0033 class-ID: e001 Report: hciconfig ID: hci0 rfk-id: 1 state: up address: <filter> >System: Kernel: 6.1.0-13-amd64 arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 12.2.0 Desktop: KDE Plasma v: 5.27.5 wm: kwin_x11 vt: 7 dm: SDDM Distro: MX-23.1_KDE_x64 Libretto October 15 2023 base: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) >Machine: Type: Convertible System: SAMSUNG product: 750QFG v: P04RGT serial: <superuser required> Chassis: type: 31 serial: <superuser required> Mobo: SAMSUNG model: NP750QFG-KA1US v: SGLB447A0M-C01-G001-S0003+10.0.22621 serial: <superuser required> UEFI: American Megatrends LLC. v: P04RGT.160.230427.HC date: 04/27/2023 >Audio: Device-1: Intel driver: sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl API: ALSA v: k6.1.0-13-amd64 status: kernel-api Server-1: PulseAudio v: 16.1 status: active

Got a copy of Borderlands (EU iso) from the r/ROMS megathread and found out there is securom verification (which I have absolutely no experience with) as part of the installation process. Closest I have found to a solution to bypass so far after some brief searching was one "Generic Securom 7/8 by Virusek" off of the "LOSTFILESARCHIVE" github page, which leads to a 404 page (even on the wayback machine). Are there any programs or patches you would recommend to bypass this god awful drm?
