You can always supplement with core exercises like planks, side planks, and hollow holds. However one of the main benefits of compound lifts is that they tend to work the core.

I have problems with back spasms and general stiffness as well and the physiotherapist told me the best way to avoid this was to strengthen the core; that is the deep abdominal muscles along with the lower back. He recommended me a small, at home routine that I could pass along to you if you like.

This program is a good starting point. This provides a good foundation for future training and general fitness: https://startingstrength.com/get-started

I could probably find a pdf of the book if you're interested.

    Hello

Hello everyone, I'm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA. I've spent time in Europe though have primarily been in Southern Spain. I'm a father of three young children and am entering my second year studying a second bachelor's in CS and Cognitive Science. I have done some grad studies in AI where I primarily worked with Python, although I'm currently learning C++. I tend to be very busy, but am hoping to become a part of this community and network with like minded people interested in tech. I'm looking to gain experience and have thought that contributing to open source would be a good first step, but not sure about where to start and what projects to contribute to. I'm interested in all things tech, Linux, and Android.
