This is a hell of a thing to read with morning coffee. I think I'll go back to bed now.

Everyone's overlooking the fact that she legitimized gender-affirming healthcare as medically necessary on live tv. And refused to walk it back. She's not really what I'd consider a true ally, but she did us a real solid there.

Did you mean "empathizing"? I'm having difficulty empathizing with cases like that too. I mean, ugh, it's mind-boggling, $10k is a life-changing amount of money for most people and this guy threw it away on a video game that's not even out yet. Still, people like him are being exploited for personal gain, and that is also wrong.

It's trippy looking at these old photos, isn't it? I mean wtf argh lmao, Leonard Nimoy in an "Indian" costume. Wow.
Side note. It took 70 years, but now instead of shit like this we have movies like Prey being made (omfg tell me you've seen it? I thought it was amazing). So we've come a long way.

These photos are wild, I don't think I've seen these before.
Yeah, today is recognized as "Columbus Day" federally in the U.S., but it's increasingly been referred to as "Indigenous Peoples' Day" for the past few years at the state, city, town levels.
Possibly linux is right, Columbus Day is a product of racist national pride. It's not as popular as it used to be, thankfully, and it's not something most Americans are particularly proud of. It's definitely going to be officially renamed one day, but it's going to take time (and likely face opposition from racists). Seriously, fuck Columbus, he was a butcher.

Yep, she has a skin condition. I didn't know this, so I looked it up. I guess it's not super common knowledge, but she has discussed it before.
One of the fans asked Terry Farrell about her skin disorder, which prevented her from doing much shooting outside, such as the episode Rocks and Shoals where Dax stays inside a cave for most of the episode. Farrell told how she was teased when people saw her about walking about with a parasol.

This is beautiful. I have an old Hitchhikers's Guide omnibus edition with gold lettering that this reminds me of. I should give the whole series another read. Thanks for posting this.

Haha, is that from YouTube? I tried screenshotting the one from the official Trek YouTube account, but it looked like it was just upscaled and smoothed and was kinda meh. Thanks for trying though!

Original file if anyone wants it. Sorry for the low res, I couldn't find a better version online and didn't feel like digging up the episode to make my own screen capture.

Obligatory "Janeway is my spirit animal" remark lol

It is like that! Hah it has been well over a decade for me, but I do remember it gets worse. There's thi.... ugh, balls nasty tree bark flavor that gets more intense and leaves an throaty aftertaste that even Jameson couldn't flush away. Some people claim to like the taste of Malort, but I think they're just dead inside.
