Cutting ties does help with matching in tournaments because otherwise you might have to have rematches, and each game takes a long time. You don't want to have a situation where table 1 is waiting on table 2 to play a whole extra round to find out who they'll be up against, or where you end up having to extend the event an extra day because the final match was a tie.
By giving white an extra half point, they would win games that would otherwise be tied, giving every* game a clear winner.

I haven't actually played it, but the original had some extremely cringe NSFL stuff, and I wouldn't pitch it to a group without some heavy disclaimers. I think there's parts that are salvageable with the right group, but don't expect the source material to be consistently good ideologically.

Um, actually, it's congress that decides whether to send weapons to Israel. Sure, the Biden administration has bypassed congress to send more weapons, but, uh, look over there! 🤡

She's hiding her power level and will come out as anti-Zionist once she's in power. TRUST THE PLAN 🤡
-
She's not anti-Zionist, but we can push her in that direction once we've already given her our support and sacrificed every ounce of bargaining power we might have wielded 🤡
-
She's not anti-Zionist and can't be pressured in that direction, but Orange Man Bad. It's fine to support genocide if the other side supports it too 🤡

I looked this up because it sounded so made up but apparently it's real
He arrived in Moscow in September 1935 and stayed “in the rooms which Napoleon had in 1812.” There he met with Sophia Janovskaya, professor of mathematical logic, who helped secure him offers to teach philosophy at Kazan or Moscow University. He was also shown around Leningrad, where his appeals to get manual work were rejected by party officials. It became apparent that outside of a teaching position, there would be no work for him.

Not a movie and I haven't finished it, but I believe The Rose of Versailles does this. The main character is a royal guard for Marie Antoinette who starts out only seeing the perspective of the nobility, but gradually sees more and more of the horrific conditions regular people are dealing with on a regular basis and joins the revolution.
It's been rough. But at my weakest moment, a voice in my head reminded me, "You can't give in or internet communists will call you a cheesebreather." I would like to specifically thank [@Angel@hexbear.net](https://hexbear.net/u/Angel) as well as anyone else who I might have seen throwing it around for keeping me honest. My friends did pick up breadsticks for me which helped because it's basically the same kind of slop but without the cruelty. I'm usually eating on my own where I never struggle with controlling my diet, but those social situations when it's free and I'm the only vegan in the room can be super challenging. But I know if I'd made an exception I'd feel guilty later and it would make it harder to assert in the future. Now I really need to reward myself and splurge on like the best vegan pizza I can find. >Simple yet tactical, [Qawale](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/368465/qawale) will rock your idea of strategy games. >Lay stones on the path and try to line up four stones in your color. >Qawale is inspired by the tradition of stacking stones along trails and paths in nature. >As you drop these stones along your path, this incredible game will transport you to a place where strategy and nature come together. >Each player takes 8 stones in their color. The third color is neutral and is placed in the 4 corners of the board. >On your turn, add a stone on top of any pile and move it. When moving a pile, you must leave a stone on each space you cross. >The first player to get 4 of their stones in a row, looking at the board from above, wins the game. I haven't actually played this game I just saw it on display in a board game shop and went "Stacking rocks? Omg this is just like on my favorite website, hexbear.net!" ![leo-point](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F1cb71c91-c642-4b4f-877d-a3bace899975.png "emoji leo-point") But then I was like, "Does a random game about stacking rocks really warrant a whole post? I don't even have anything witty to say about it." But then I was like, "A post that's not very good? They are called transfem feet and transmasc feet. The conversions to Standard Burger Units (sbu) are as follows: 1 foot (transfem) = 1.1 foot (sbu) 1 foot (sbu) = 1.1 foot (transmasc) If you're a transfem who would be 6' (sbu), you are now 5'5" (tf). If you're transmasc and would be 5'5" (sbu), you are now 6' (tm). These new units could help marginally with height dysphoria, and the only tradeoff is being extremely confusing. Thank you and you're welcome.
