It says "unlimited file sync is a $5 in-app unlock" so I'm guessing they can make money. Main problem is the apple developer fees that will eat the profit of the first 25 sales each year

    No it's just stupidity

The Italian government gave the keys of the internet in the hands of three copyright trolls. They have absolute power and the ISPs need to block the URLs and IP addresses forever within 30 minutes. There's simply no time in 30 minutes for a review! Also they like to block during soccer matches and those happen during weekend, when all the sysadmins are relaxing...

Can we realize how stupid is to block an URL and its IP address forever??? (If the block is wrong, the owner can appeal within 5 days)

  • A decade ago I used BitTorrent Sync. Then it became Resilio Sync. Then with Resilio Sync 2 they nerfed the free app to a point that I just removed that from all my computers and switched to syncthing. Yesterday I was watching my server struggling when syncthing was doing the periodic scan of a directory with hundreds of thousands of files and then i thought, "maybe Resilio Sync uses less resources or doesn't waste time reindexing a static directory for the nth time" I went to see their website and now with the new version 3, all the features are back. The business plan now is to sell the app to enterprises at unaffordable prices rather to persuade consumers to pay a subscription to self host their syncing server I wanted to try it but now they say docker version is discontinued, need to install the package to bare metal. Ugh... So I desisted and decided to stay with syncthing Now with the news of the impending discontinuation of syncthing android app, everything changes. Without Android support, syncthing is no more irreplaceable for me. So, has anyone tried Resilio Sync 3? Is it good?

Does anyone know why it was forked and the fork got all the improvements while the official app is in the exact same state of when it was launched years ago?

It was because all the proposals got rejected?

Because if he rejected all the improvements I don't really understand why he's saying "nobody wants to help development"

    Tagged as a bug bounty?

The guy wanted a bug bounty on something like this?

Like if he discovered now that software can be cracked??

Of course they weren't interested, all the software is crackable. Even if the dev wasted one week of dev time to implement server side validation, then the for the cracker doesn't change anything, they patch the server check to reverse the logic. Ok it's a bit harder but if it's worth, determined crackers will take the challenge.

Look at denuvo and the thousands of online checks, all defeated eventually.

    It's pure greenwashing.

They made a deal with a company that has zero practical experience with nuclear reactors, literally built nothing.

It's impossible that in just 6 years they will manage to:

    1. Build a test reactor for their new unproven technology that as of now exists only as a PowerPoint presentation to show to investors
    2. Have it approved by the government
    3. Build the full scale reactor
    4. Have it approved by the government
    5. Get a license to use enriched uranium in a private setting

Even if they finished yesterday to build the final version of the full scale reactor, 6 years aren't enough to go all through the regulatory red tape

Now that they promised that will use "green" energy in the future, Google can continue to use energy from coal and in 2030 everyone has forgotten about this vaporware deal

At least is technically feasible (although completely impossible to do in that timeframe)

Unlike the cold fusion energy deal that Microsoft greenwashed last year that's pure science fiction (invent, create, test and build a cold fusion reactor in just 4 years: impossible unless they got a time machine or found some alien tech in a remote cave)

The nes roms in animal crossing for N64 had the header for the ines emulator. Now, a few years before Nintendo hired a guy who worked on the audio driver for ines, and that tomohiro is credited with lots of emu projects for Nintendo, so it's not impossible that they reused that header idea. In the gigaleak there's a tool that adds the ines header to clean roms.

This said, it's also not impossible that they're taking a peek in other OSS emulators source code, i recall that luigiblood (a guy obsessed in decompiling Nintendo emulators) found traces of 64dd emulator code from pj64 in some Nintendo product, which then was silently removed after he tweeted about that

I got a really weird problem. Two years ago bought a set of 4x DDR4 3200 16gb each, single sided and placed them in a ryzen 5600 desktop computer, which i almost never turned it off. It worked without issue. This weekend I wanted to dust off the PC, so I took all the components out, replaced the thermal paste and so on. Turned on the PC again, worked apparently without issues until after a while Linux was pissed about going out of memory. Out of memory? With 64gb of RAM? I checked with `dmidecode -t memory` and I saw that a channel was reporting completely empty. Shut down the PC, reinserted the second channel, rebooted, saw 64gb. One hour later, kernel panic. Rebooted in memtest86+, error in memory. What? Removed one module, error. Removed two modules, no error. Switched the modules, no error. What?? Placed the two modules that are passing the test in another computer, error. Put back in the original computer, pass test. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Now I downclocked from 3200 to 2400 and everything seems working fine. What could be? Have I been cursed? After a few reinsertions do the slots degrade to a point that can't sustain 3200 anymore?

Intro: Webtoon is an app/website where (mostly Korean) comics are released in short episodes. Those episodes aren't released all at once but usually once a week, you have a free unlock a day and if you want you can have more by either watching an ad or by paying with coins, that are paid with real money. With the smallest purchase ($6), an episode can be unlocked with 3 coins (¢35) up to 7 (¢80). You can also skip the wait by paying with coins. I used it for years and I was ok by watching the ads at the end of each episode. It limited myself to one a day, otherwise I would scroll for hours. But, at the end of June 2024, they did the IPO, so that means ✨enshittification✨ So the guide on how to push away users to piracy: 1. Have a scary reminder at the beginning of every episode that says that piracy is illegal. (I can't screenshot that without a rooted phone, it's blocked). This helps the user to have a daily notification that yes, this content is also available somewhere else and you're not bound to artificial limits. 2. Put the last three episodes of a series started 3-4 years ago in perpetual paywall. No more "just wait one week to get the new episode". You want to see how that 200 episodes story that you're reading almost every day for 3 years ends? LOL pay $6 to buy a coins package! 3. Now that the user is pissed that they can't know how the story ends, they'll just search it on the illegal sites, since over the past years they had to skip through 200 reminders that yes, this story is also available over there.

And it failed spectacularly. We only needed a simple form, but we wanted to be fancy, so we used "nextcloud forms". The docker image automatically updated the install to nextcloud 30, but the forms app requires nextcloud 29 or lower. No warning whatsoever. It's an official app, couldn't they wait that it was ready for NC 30 before launching it? The newsletter boasts "NC hub 9 is the best thing after sliced bread" yet i don't see any difference both in visual or performance compared to NC hub 2 Conclusion: we made our business to rely on nextcloud forms as a signup form, but the only reason we were using it was disabled who knows how many weeks ago.

I was accidentally locked out of home again, and I had to call a professional to open the lock. But if someone was home, they could have just turned the knob of the door from inside. There's a device that can do that? It needs to do 3 full turns and it requires a bit of force to do that (armored door with iron bars that slide in every direction, so it has a big inertia to start) I saw a ready solution on a store, the iseo x1r, but that costs 1000 euro + another 200 for the gateway (not mandatory but otherwise it uses proprietary Bluetooth protocol and so it can't talk with HA

Luglio 2024: devo fare una pratica all'ambasciata italiana.

Many users bought Resident evil for iOS because it was working offline. Perfect for long trips. But a new update adds a mandatory DRM online check at start-up. I wrote bought, but actually the word is rented. One day Capcom stops updating the games (and this is 100% guaranteed) and a few years later the "owner" gets "This app needs to be updated to run on this iPhone" Meanwhile, people who pirated a cracked ipa, don't get any issue in playing the game offline. DRM exclusively hurts the paying customers.

The share is higher than you would expect because they include all apple devices in them because the apple soc is capable of running ai. Of course who's buying a MacBook it's not doing it because "it's an AI PC". Should have included all gaming PCs then... The report says Lenovo ai PC shipments went up 228% last quarter. Uh... They put on sale their copilot+ devices on the last week of Q2, then of course at the end of Q3 you have such high percentage. They could have said "10000000000000000000000% yoy increase"

Apparently xitter saw an access from Russia (even if it's blocked by the government) and had no problem in giving full access to change immediately the password, disable 2fa and start scamming followers.
