You're not wrong 😅 But as far as I'm concerned there's no expiration date on literature. Somewhere, someone is reading the books for the first time. The odds of them also being on Lemmy are astronomically small. But it was enough of an "oh shit" moment IMO that it was worth the half-second it took to hit the spoiler button.
::: spoiler Tap for ramblings of an old man about old children's books It was also the moment that jolted me out of whatever enjoyment I had been getting out of The Last Battle. Whenever I would do a re-read, things really slowed down for Silver Chair and Horse And His Boy, picked back up wonderfully for Magician's Nephew, then Last Battle would ham-fist its way through to the end, with Furry Jesus reveling with his most devout disciples. Just eye-rolling stuff.
The Wardrobe movie from a while back was a surprisingly good adaptation, and as the series went on (and then stalled out after Dawn Treader) I was worried about the actors literally aging out of being able to play the roles. Thinking back, it was probably for the best that it ended there. :::

It's not that deep. The whole series is thinly veiled Christianity. By the end, Susan lost her faith. That's it. She no longer held Narnia in her heart. But it's an allegory for children so it was couched in awkward old man language. Why Susan and not Peter? Regular old misogyny, Eve-style.
1950 is when the first book was published. Susan being excluded completely didn't happen until the last book, in 1956. And considering

Susan being unable to enter Heaven Narnia because she no longer believed makes sense narratively and thematically.
If you want to see this as some sort of commentary on child marriage laws, well... have fun.

they were talking about the difference between big picture thinking and evidence based thinking
This annoyed me so much that I had to stop reading for a few moments.
I've been in similar situations. One recent example was in music therapy. We listened to a song and were asked our impressions. My brain was breaking down instrumentation and phrasing, appreciating the lack of autotune, etc. But what they were shooting for with the question, and what probably about half the participants responded, was "that was pretty relaxing." While true (if subjective), it's the details that jumped out at me.

People have been saying "Nintendo should release their games for Platform That I Like" for decades. Pretty sure they're content with doing what they're been doing.
Upfront: the character animation is jank and I have no clue why that was considered acceptable given the overall effort that went into making things look pretty. I went in with cautious optimism, because it's Netflix and they have a habit of butchering things. Not the case this time. It's 100% a Gundam show, alt-UC or no. My spouse was reluctant to start it tonight because she was beat after work and wasn't sure she was gonna be able to do more than one episode. After said one episode: "I'm awake." And so we finished it. And now I want all those Zaku kits. Damn.

My car still has one of these, and I just happened to use it yesterday when the battery on my Bluetooth adapter died. Yes, my car is old. Given the state of new cars today, I think I'm gonna keep it as long as I can.

I have two Vizio panels, a 2017 and a 2023. Neither are connected to my network. The 2017 got a couple of firmware updates via wired connection in the first year but I nixed that after an update nearly bricked it. The 2023 will turn itself back on for a few seconds occasionally (just the electronics, not the panel)... possibly looking for an open network but I have no way to verify. Neither complain about a lack of connection unless I accidentally select their streaming input.

It took 14 years, but I finally got my spouse into Trek a while back with TNG. We are in the process of wrapping up season 6, and the question of where to go next has come up several times. The two obvious next steps: - TNG movies - DS9 And even then, there's chronology/production order. All the movies, then DS9? DS9, then the movies? Mix the movies into DS9? (Yes, I do realize that we "should" be mixing TNG and DS9 at this point if I'm going to bring chronology into the mix lol.) But I'm still very much interested in getting her to watch TOS, if nothing else than for the base of knowledge. IMO it still holds up, save for some societal byproducts of its time. And love it or hate it, the remaster made going back a lot more palatable for people who might otherwise struggle to enjoy 60s effects. And from there it would be either TAS (which I have but haven't seen yet) or the movies... which flows nicely into Generations. As a bonus, all of this has been released on Blu-ray and is sitting on my shelf, and doesn't require paying for official SD versions of DS9 etc. (or setting up for viewing by unofficial means). As for me, I never finished DS9 or Voyager... by the time the latter came out I was in high school and basically stopped having time to watch tv on a broadcaster's schedule. And then I was working nights by the time Enterprise came out... and then didn't start any of the newer shows because I wasn't caught up. ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ (So no spoilers please, same with opinions on the newer shows. It's been beat to death lol.) tl;dr Keep on trucking or swing by the old haunts first?

I think I'm pre-traumatized just thinking about the implications of this crossover.
