I live in a rural area and don't keep valuables in my car so mine stays unlocked at home. That plus I'd rather someone open my door, prowl through and find nothing then have a broke window because if they wanna steal my car it's a 1989 so it's easy af to start with no key so and they want it it's gonna be gone.

Honestly I'd say it's mainly just the first episode. For some reason the tone is a bit off from the rest of the series but S1 in general is kind of weird.

I tried it and wasn't the biggest fan, mainly because it's designed like an iOS app. Probably great for former Apollo users but as an android user it's just not for me. It definitely is a pretty slick web client though and I'd use it over the official reddit app any day 😂

That seems like the most reasonable assumption. I mean there's no way it was intended for combat effectiveness.

You can eat a piano, just have to do it a small piece at a time.

The fediverse has been doing great. Server issues from a bunch of new users but that's just a symptom of something good.

You also don't have a 50% chance the comment you're replying to is from a bot and copy and pasted either from that post, another random post, or even the original post that a repost bot stole posted snd you are now commenting on. Reddit is a bot riddled mess.

Yea there's a major difference in "playing ball" because you have no choice and willingly contributing to the corrupt system.

The only reason I use it is that not enough prominent people are on Mastodon and for me it's only good for being a quick way of seeing what's going on in media and politics.

I remember when instead of getting downvoted for having a slightly different opinion you'd get downvoted for the minorest of grammar/spelling mistakes.

Custom medals for an instance that admins/mods could give to accounts or posts would be cool, might be a way for admins to reward/push good content. Kind of like reddit mod awards except you don't have to give money to a jagoff to do it.

Yea I think sync for Lemmy will be one of the big movers for people. Being able to use a different site but have it look and feel 99% the same makes that switch way easier.

I mean it's actually good they prosecuted him, shows that they will go after people who commit crimes regardless of politics. This hurts the conservative narrative.

It's from the community r/196 on reddit which has migrated to !196!196@lemmy.blahaj.zone which is one of the largest communities to migrate here. There's also !195@lemmy.world which was made about the same time and ended up being kind of the "unofficial" one whereas the one on it's own instance has gotten more popular. "Rule" comes from the fact that it is a "rule" to post something there any time you visit.

Edited to include a summary of what I've done so far. I may try to go more in depth with it, but I am thinking of making a new post detailing what I did after I get it up and running fully functional. That way I'll know all the mistakes I made and bumps encountered and how I overcame them. I will make sure to include a link to the post in an edit here when it's done.

I just made a post about having issues with getting a fully functional instance so I think I'm gonna give this a try.
After I saw the news of Beehaw defederating from Lemmy.world I decided the best route to go would be to try and set up a self hosted instance to have the most control of my account as possible. I use Linux on the desktop but have no experience running a server. So far I've managed to get an instance that is able to get posts from the communities I've searched (which from I understand is typical behavior due to no pulling of historic data) however I've ran into issues. Both my Domain and VPS are from namecheap and I have the proper A records set up but am unsure what else I need to do to get everything working. What I've done so far to get it going : Purchased a domain and VPS on namecheap. Got an admin user created and ssh set up with keys to login. I initially used Debian 11 because I tried to use the YunoHost method as it seemed easier but it uses an older version of Lemmy and just gave me headaches and couldn't even change settings on Lemmy. I decided to try Ansible kept having an error related to nginx (was installed but wasn't showing up) so decided to go with Ubuntu 22.04 which allowed me to get Lemmy up and running in the state it has now. Server Specs: Ubuntu 22.04 40GB SSD Storage 2GB RAM Dual Core CPU (What comes with the lowest Tier Namecheap VPS) Not much but figured for 1 user should be enough and I can always migrate to a better server. Used Ansible as the method to install Lemmy Issues I'm currently having: - new data such as votes and comments from outside instances do not appear (posts do) , and comments and votes I send to other instances aren't visible outside mine - verification and notification emails do not send - cannot upload images I will edit to add any issues I run into or solutions to the ones I already have. Any help that can be given would be appreciated. If anybody wants to register to take a look at what's going on yourself just mention your main Lemmy username in the application and this post. EDIT: I WANT TO GIVE A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO @ubergeek77@lemmy.ubergeek77.chat, [HIS SCRIPT](https://lemmy.world/post/248800) FIXED EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE EMAIL (which I know is on my end and isn't a huge deal) l
