MX-5 Miata
There are (at least) two ways to join this community if you come from other instances: 1. Go to the search of your instance (there's an icon on the top-right), search for 'miata' (you might want to limit your search to communities) and from there click on the "MX-5 Miata" link. 2. Manually copy-paste the community name to your address bar. You need to add `c/miata@lemmy.world` to the address of your instance. E.g. if you are on lemmy.ml: https://lemmy.ml/c/miata@lemmy.world
Went on the Blue Ridge Parkway this week, and had a blast! The Parkway feels amazing with the top down, and all of the curves make for some interesting driving.
I'm very excited. 97, 5-speed, Torsen, 96k miles.
It's time to winterize my Miata. Makes me so sad when she goes into hibernation. I drive her daily if the weather isn't too bad and I don't need extra room. Is anyone else winterizing?
> This is the unlikely success story of the Mazda MX-5 Miata: the world's bestselling 2-seat roadster and the only remaining true lightweight sports car. > It almost never happened in the first place. Had its makers listened to the experts, it never would have happened. And if Mazda listened to its own customers, it would have never succeeded.
2003 model https://pixelfed.social/p/Cornfed/613741994334708298 2010 Jeep Commander air vents, I cannot recommend these strongly enough. Increases airflow. https://pixelfed.social/p/Cornfed/613742053919257183 Dayton Audio RSS265HO-44 10" Reference HO DVC in 0.3cuft. Amp is a midrange JL 500w mounted in the fender tunnel. I like Aphex Twin (which hits like 23hz) and this thing performs better than you'd expect for a single 10" in a tiny box! https://pixelfed.social/p/Cornfed/613741777701806548 From when I rebuilt the rear end last spring - control arm bushings, differential bushings, differential seals, end links. I'm not a mechanic, I just watch videos and search forums and have a factory service manual, so I was proud of myself!
It was really nice driving home, though, so I'm pretty stoked that the Sierra top I ordered is zippered glass. Always nice to install an upgrade instead of just boring maintenance. Of course I pulled the trigger on a new Rega P3 50th Anniversary turntable right before finding this... when it rains it pours!

The engine's mostly stock but I've spent a lot of time on maximizing its cornering ability on a reasonable budget and removing weight where while retaining creature comforts like carpet and a radio. It's my third Miata and definitely my favorite! IMO, NBs are the sweet spot between power, complexity and daily-ability.
Had a NA back in '99 but after my poor mk2.5 went to rust heaven a few weeks ago (the underside was a horror show) I've gone and got a 2017 ND RF and oh boy am I in love. (Sorry to the NC's, I just didn't like the design)
The reshelling of the mechanicals and suspension from my wrecked Eunos into the new body is completed. Months of effort, skinned kuckles, dirty fingernails, swearing and way too much money are over. Turbocharged and ready to party #mx5 #miata

Took about two hours.
Fellow too small to see car enthusiast from Apollo here! Glad to have a new place to go.
OZ Leggera 7.5x17" ET45, going for that OEM+ look
I know KPowerIndustries has a K24A2 kit - I found a really cheap k24a4 junkyard engine for $200, 170k miles on it. I want to keep it in my garage and take it apart and mess around several times as I've never worked with cars too much. It comes with a rebuild kit previous owner had gotten to busy to finish. I plan to either sell it or junk it since its mostly to learn - I'll probably look for a more popular 2.5 swap. But hypothetically, if I wanted to swap a K24A4 odyssey engine, could I do it? I know the compression ratio is lower so might need some forced induction to go with it

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/422283 > The color is "Blue Crystal Metallic" an option that was only offered for about a year, approx 3000 Miatas were sold with this color. I've never done paint polishing so I bought a kit from Amazon with a ton of Chemical Guys compounds and after a TON of watching YouTube tutorials I went to work.
Drilled a hole in a hat and stuck a yi 4k action camera in there.
Still i need of lowering, but she's my 97 😊. Dealer pin stripe is original by the looks of it
Old lump out, some tidying of the engine bay to do before the turbocharged engine from my other, crashed, MX goes in
Sad to see you go, we had some great times togerger, old friend... but your turbocharged heart will live on in another
If anyone has tips on how to properly transfer the title, bill of sale etc that would be really useful!

Been waiting for an MX5 / Miata community on here. So here's my first post on Lemmy with my 95 NA. It's a work in progress after crashing my previous one
Bing image creator was used to visualise a few colour combinations. This one is my favourite (and close to its current appearance). I can upload the other ones, if anyone is interested. How do you upload multiple images on here, though?
