Chunky crochet scarf that I made for my husband

He is really into Lego Rock Raiders so I wanted to make something that kinda references it, but is still subtle enough to wear to work :D ![](https://lemm.ee/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fprogramming.dev%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2Faa7b91fe-9abd-4a05-aada-5e52a52701e5.jpeg) This was my first time steam blocking Acrylic Yarn, it makes such a difference!!! The finished scarf got super soft and flowy, none of that creaky stiff crochet feeling left haha

What's everyone working on this lovely Monday?

I'm still working on this [bat lace bag ](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1781345034/crochet-pattern-lace-bat-drawstring-bag?click_key=ade7540b7a2ca840f7bdbb082c3eb3f38cefd4b9%3A1781345034&click_sum=859cf76d&ref=shop_home_feat_1) using a much bigger thread and hook than recommended. I'd love to see what everyone else is working on!

I wonder if they dyed it this color or found sock yarn in hi-viz yellow?

Husband sent me this pic that he found on the site formerly known as Twitter. I'm impressed that they either found sock yarn/#10 thread in dayglo yellow, or that they used basic cotton thread and found dayglo yellow fabric dye.

my first amigurumi - hubble the squid

ok the title is a little bit of a lie, i made a tiny jellyfish before this but the that was like 10 tiny rows so it doesn't count. i love this guy! i learned a lot about how to improve my technique while making him, and i'm just really stoked with how he ended up. his eyes are a little wonky and the tension in the tentacles is all over the place, but i can write that off as personality lol. i was also pleasantly surprised with how the variegated yarn looks in a finished piece. this pattern is free on ravelry: [hubble the squid](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hubble-the-squid)

my first project - desk chair arm covers

i just learned how to crochet and made these lil guys because the plastic/vinyl/whatever stuff on them was cracking and falling off. they're held taut by a drawstring which i just noticed is perfectly hidden by the angle of this picture, but i just used some extra yarn and tied it like shoelaces. really simple and easy as a first project! i'm not sure if it is visible in the picture but i made the blue one second and i think it came out much better. i got the idea from [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wuh-t6Ehh4s) and used it as a general reference.

I'm a beginner and want to crochet a cardigan - stumped on what yarn to use and the expenses that come with it

Hi there! I hope it's ok to ask this here. I've been wanting to crochet an almost floor length cardigan, so I would need a lot of yarn. The pattern said they used a Level 4/Worsted weight yarn and had a gauge of 8 stitches and 6 rows on 4"x4". Now, I can't really find out what equals as worsted weight yarn here in Europe, and the ones I found all feel too thin to achieve that gauge. I've been to a local store where they recommended some cotton yarn and wool to me that should be equal to worsted weight. Now the thing is, they are quite expensive and I still can't get close to that gauge, meaning I would need even more. However, what I found of WW yarn, they all seem to be acrylic and honestly not much cheaper. So I'm currently a little stumped, am I looking for the wrong things or do I have to face the fact that this cardigan would cost me about 180€ of yarn?

Temperature Blanket 2022
imgur.com

In reference to the last post on temperature blankets. This is my temperature blanket for the year 2022. I didn't want it to be a giant blanket so what I did was took the average temperature over two days for each row. It ended up being a bit smaller than a throw blanket. It's also evident that my tension got looser over time which made it come out pretty wonky. Overall I think it turned out pretty nice!

Blocking my first blanket: update!

I felt I should update you guys after your suggestions and support from my other post. I was concerned about the finishing of my blanket, it wasn't a regular shape, but a session of carefull (nail biting level stress) steam blocking straightened her out! Here she is, rectangular and perfect for a nice bed spread. My godchild will get it coming Christmas, wrapped under the tree with a nice bow. Thanks everybody for your encouragement and support in my first ever blocking adventure! You are very kind people and I appreciate you!

Will blocking save my blanket from the irregular tension?

Hello crochet friends! I'm almost done making blanket, but as I lay it out to admire my work... Horror strikes! It looks like my tension became looser as time passed... I've never made a blanket before, and have read that blocking is a standard step to even out ones work. But... This looks really bad. The bottom right corner is 10cm longer than the top right. Will blocking save my work and allow me to shape it into a rectangle?

December Projects

What are you currently working on? Any Christmas presents for someone else or yourself? Or are you planning your next projects? Currently I’m working on 4 projects (all for myself): 1. The “Lattice Love Beanie” by hear hook home with a gorgeous yarn I found at a yarn fair. It’s so soft and I love how it works up. I’m just afraid that I don’t have enough yarn. 2. The Rancher Shawl by TL Yarncrafts. Also with yarn I you at a fair, and I’m finally making some progress on it. It’s probably going to be the project I’ll take with me to entertain me during Christmas travels. 3. Moroccan Tea Blanket. I love the shawls, and I now I now started this blanket. It’s probably going to be my 2024 project. 4. Socks. I am so over knitting this pair of socks. I want to be a sock knitter, but I’m not. Working 9 months now on this pair, and my 2nd sock is about 1/4 done…
