Anime - Socialism with Kawaii Characteristics
I recently watched both and really liked it. A friend have been recommending me to watch Solo Leveling for a while now, and despite my fears of it just being another generic ass story and protagonist, I actually enjoyed it. The only 2 complaints I can think of right now are that the other characters aren't really that interesting outside the protagonist, so I kinda don't care about them very much, and I think not having any commentary on the very predatory capitalism showed in the story is a bit of a let down, like, the protagonist barely makes money, there's literal monopolization of portals and creation of guilds for profit seeking, yet there's 0 commentary on that, unless I missed something. That being said, I like the protagonist, he's not an extremely evil or perfectly good guy, he's just a dude that got dragged along and have to make some though decisions here and there. ::: spoiler Spoiler for the end of the season Also, at the end of the first season the dude becomes a necromancer, and I'm a sucker for necromancy, so I'm excited to see where it goes lol. ::: . For Trigun, I watched the old anime a while ago, and I thought this new one would go a completely different route, but I was gladly surprised with how it turned out. I just finished watching it and I really liked it. I never read the manga so I don't know how close it is to the original story, but I was shocked with how different it was from the old adaptation. I remember a lot of people complaining about Vash's new design, but honestly the only issue I have with it is that it's a bit too simple lol, I wish his clothing was more complex/overdesigned. ::: spoiler Spoiler about the story The only real complain I have with the story is that it doesn't really tries to counter Knives' narrative. Like, he's obviously right about how the plants are used and killed by humans, but he's a genocidal manipulative race supremacist that wants to create a paradise for his species with all means necessary, and the only thing to counter his narrative is Vash saying it doesn't need to be like that and that humans and plants can coexist, but never explaining how, never addressing the issue with how plants are used and discarded. I really hope this gets tackled in the next season, because right now it makes it seems like Knives actions and way of thinking was justified. It's also mentioned how humans basically destroyed Earth and had to send colonizing ships to another planet, but there's no deeper conversation or commentary about how that happened or why it might happen again in this new planet, the narrative is always pointed towards the whole human race being evil and being the issue, and not the current structures that make these things happen. Seems a bit shallow to me. :::

I found this manga very interesting and it explored the idea of how tribal societies(before agriculture) were rich in resources. Also, it shows how people shared and used to be a strong collective.

This work caught my attention a few months ago with the premise of having a 'realistic' economy based villainess type of story but as the story progress, it's getting more and more blatant with it classical liberal wish fulfillment bullshit The original message of "I will save Japan lost generation by making the economy better" got turned into "how I exploited future knowledge to make profit for myself (and Japan) while screwing everyone else". The FMC basically just use her future knowledge to siphon America economic might to bail out Japan's economic burble while encouraging the worst aspect of America capitalist system. War profiteering, political corruption, racism, stealing personal freedom and privacy, every tricks in the book is fine as long as it's done outside of Japan. Of course, the main character have to a be a super beautiful genius white girl from a rich and noble family that is only barely down on their luck right now cause of bad management by other people. It was totally easy to turn the ship around with future knowledge and a million dollar in seed capital. She was also super talent in singing and easily became an idol if her business fail. To make the matter worse, to justify a world where the MC can be a blue blood noble in modern Japan, the author basically created an alt history where all other nations' agency is erased and the Allies just decided to give Japan everything they wanted in WW2 cause they surrendered earlier. Japan got to keep Manchuria, Japan got to keep the Zaibatsu, Japan beaten the Soviet and got stopped by the USA cause the Soviet got the A-bomb etc. Finally, the books were pretty blatant about the anti communism message. The author have many characters in story repeating the same cliches "my country bad when it was under socialism, we are so rich now under capitalism, praise capitalism" or "communist stole my grandpa slaves, they were bad people". The more I read the worse I feel so here is just my thought to easy my anger and grief of wasting time on such a piece of trash.
Maybe the web comic is awesome but so far the anime is nothing special. Other than the Korean names.
Even that one about literal terrorists ends up changing absolutely nothing about society.

Here are my Top 10 favorites of all time: 10.Shiki - real shame I didn't watch it earlier, I knew about it since like 2016 but was a bit scared when I saw it few times in gifs and images. It's horror and about vampires, has a really interesting story and it's generally just unnerving more than scary , just for me.  9.Umaru Chan - this one was hilarious, I remember watching it in 2015, it was one of my favorites and the main character is you know... relatable to many people.  8.Beyblade- this one shoud be obvious, basically everyone in school had a Bayblade to duel(Pegasus was a must have) and was obsessed even before the anime aired on TV.  7.Dinosaur King - being a dinosaur fanatic I basically grew up on this one, it's basically dinosaurs with superpowers dueling, enough said. It was the best thing ever back then, not to mention those YT videos with epic music in the background.  6.Dragon Ball - one of my first animes, doesn't need an introdution.  5.Yu-Gi-Oh - same as Dragon Ball, everyone was obessed with cards in school just like with Bayblades, Yu-Gi is still one of my favorite anime characters to this day.  4.Death Note - nuff said, L is one of the best characters ever.  3.Naruto - I mean it's Naruto, that's it.  2.Pokemon - my first anime ever, Pika Pika!  1.Danganronpa - self explenatory  Honorable mentions: K-ON, Mirai Nikki, My Hero Academia, Love Live and Spy x Family.
